Serial Killer Earth?!?

This History Channel is one of my absolute favorite channels! If it were up to me there would be a whole lot more television options like this. One of the shows which I am somewhat in love with is "Serial Killer Earth." But I have to say, the more I watch it, the more I find the ideas and opinions of the people to be rather disturbing. Even the title of the show itself really gives the wrong impression. Now, I realize it's just for dramatic effect, but I feel the effect is taken to literally.

A serial killer is someone who purposefully harms others simply to fulfill their own personal needs. In no way is that what our Earth does. In some of these interviews individuals are using terms like "Evil" and "Demonic" when describing our dear Mother Earth. These are definitely accurate terms when talking about a killer, but not so much about our Earth. The fact is, Earth is NOT a serial killer... Yes, she takes thousands of lives a year, but if we take a good look at these losses, it's rare that they are purely the fault of our Earth.

Instead of blaming Earth, we should be looking at these tragedies - and they ARE tragedies - as learning experiences. We look at ourselves as if we are rulers of Earth. We take her for granted and assume that we have control. We destroy nature in order to "progress" and we actually think that we have the authority to do so. While there ARE those times when random people get caught in random events, they are the VAST MINORITY!

If someone were to break in to your home, threaten your family and start to destroy your possessions, you would lash out and do your best to remove the threat. You would NOT be a killer, even if you ended that person's life. Instead you would be seen as a hero. Someone who stood up to a great danger to protect what was yours. Chances are you'd make the news and papers and be shown as someone to be emulated - an example that everyone can hope to live up to. Well, the fact is, that's all our Earth does when she crushes buildings with an earthquake or sweeps away entire towns in a flood.

Our Earth is NOT evil, she's not out to get anyone. Instead, she's attempting to protect herself.  We have taken everything from her that can be taken. We have drained her oil, strip mined her mountains and hill sides, torn down her forests, filled in her lakes, ponds, swamps and wet lands, and attempted to build ourselves metal and stone monuments to progress that touch the heavens... It's our "progress" which puts us in the most danger. Our homes built on top of fault lines, our cities built in Hurricane and Tornadoes zones and our towns built in flood plains are repeatedly taken down and torn apart at the hands of Mother Nature. And we, as these supposedly all knowing and powerful beings are all but happy to be blind to our own faults, instead blaming the Earth herself for the price we pay.

All to easy we forget that without out Earth we would not have anything - not even life. She gives us everything we need - life, food, shelter, clean air and water - it is WE who have taken these gifts and distorted them beyond all recognition. Our Earth is our Mother, she should be cared for, not abused. While there will always be random occurrences, the fact is, if we start remembering all that we own our Earth and treating her with the love and respect she deserves, much of what we see as "Earth's Wrath" would be non-existent. Regardless of what the code of "progress" states, the Earth is NOT ours to use and abuse, she is our lifeline. While this show pushes home just how destructive she can be, it should also be pushing the fact that we are much of the cause for that destruction and that we CAN change things.

Deep Fried Ravioli

One of my all time favorite things to order when we get take out is Deep Fried Ravioli! I would happily live on them if I could. But the idea of making them at home as, until now, completely missed my brain! Although, now that I see this, it's so easy I can't believe I never did it!

Now, I understand WHY they use the stick - you don't have to fish them out or end up with them clumped together this way, but I would skip it! And I can only imagine they will be even better if you skip the store bought ravioli and take the time to make your own. If you get your kids involved it would be a blast to do!

Anyways, here are the recipes! Can't wait to try them!

Making Fresh Pumpkin Puree

I can NOT wait to have an oven that works so I can do my own baking again! Fresh pumpkin would make an out of this world pie!

What are the Gods?

The following post comes directly from my personal Book of Shadows. It's extremely important that I stress this though - THIS POST ONLY EXPRESSES MY BELIEFS!

Please don't read this and attempt to define the beliefs of others.  That said, I hope this provides a peak into my beliefs.

*** *** ***

What are the Gods?
The greatest of all beings, the Gods reside on the Highest Levels of the Spiritual Realm. There are two levels of Gods, Great and Lesser. Both exist solely on the Spiritual Level and both rule over all on the Levels below their own. There are, however, some key differences between the two...

The Great God & Goddess
The Great God and Goddess are the highest of the high, the omniscient and omnipotent parents of all creation within the Mental, Astral, Ethereal and Physical realms. It is the Great God & Goddess who are honored in re-enactments of the Great Rite and are the only pure beings in existence.

Through the years they have had many titles, Great Mother &God the Father, Divine Mother & Father, and in more recent years they've taken the titles of Mother Earth and Father Time. Their names are, and always will be, beyond the ability of humanity. Their energy is indefinitely intertwined with all of creation, that small spark of the divine, within everything.

Existing beyond all time and space, the Great God & Goddess are not alone. They are members of an ever existing race of beings who rule over all the universes in all the galaxies in all the heavens. They have existed since before all else, and will continue on long after the death of all.

While the concept of perfection is subjective, if it exists, it is the Great God and Goddess who would define it.

The Lesser Gods
The Lesser Gods are the direct lineage of the Great God & Goddess. Unlike their pure and eternal parents however, their sole purpose is to create or “rule” within our universe and no other. It is the Lesser Gods and Goddesses whom make up the Pantheons of all the Religions of all the World's civilizations and peoples. It is the Lesser Gods who directly deal with ruling over creation, evolution and all the beings who exist within the lower realms.

Each pantheon has been designed to directly work with the peoples whom worshiped them. As the peoples of Earth have evolved and mixed, the lines between pantheons have blurred creating an environment where Gods of differing Pantheons are often working side by side for the best of their adherents. In the Christian faith they have taken the role not only of God, but also of the Saints.

It is important to remember that the Lesser Gods are NOT limited to the Pantheons of old and have continued to grow in numbers through time, producing new and, at times, more relevant Gods & Goddesses for today's society.

The Lesser Gods are not the all knowing, all powerful, constantly present Gods that they are often portrayed as. They lack the claim to perfection and purity that the Great God & Goddess hold as well. And due to these imperfections they do fall prey to their own emotions, whims and agendas from time to time. However, they form tight bonds and relationships with those who seek a connection with them.

How to make Cream Cheese

Yeah, so, as I said before, I LOVE food! And if you can put cream cheese on it, I love it even more! But the fact is, cream cheese is not one of the greatest things you can put in your body. Store bought versions often have questionable ingredients and are way over processed with added preservatives. Sometimes, they aren't even real cream cheese... So I'm excited to say I can't wait to try and make my own!

Changing how I cook - and eat...

I absolutely love food! Seriously - I LOVE FOOD!  The problem is, as I learn more about the food that we, as Americans, cherish so much, I am terrified about what I'm putting in my body - or my kid's bodies - every time I put something on our plates.

The transformation from per-packaged, pesticide laden, GMO altered, and chemically created fake foods to organic, locally grown/farmed, chemical free options is VERY overwhelming! I don't know how to cook without packaged foods, I never learned how to do things from scratch. Everything we ate when I was a kid came from a box, be that reason for cost or simply because it was easier and I had a full time working mother, I don't really know. And frankly, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that I have never learned how to make actual meals without having a box involved. And what's worse, my husband doesn't like anything that doesn't come out of one.

But I am in the process of learning all this! I have started switching us over to brown rice instead of white, I now make my all my cheese sauces with cauliflower instead of cream and just about everything that goes on my table has fresh onions and garlic in it... So I'm getting better, but now for the hard part, going big... Switching everything over to healthy options... And worse yet, doing it on a budget!

Homemade Garlic Mayo...

For as much as I know it's not any good for me, I love Mayo! And seriously... Garlic Mayo - HOMEMADE Garlic Mayo? Heaven! OMG, this is just too good to be true!

Homemade Fabric Refresher Spray...

My husband INSISTS on having store bought Fabric Refresher in the house. I, however, refuse to buy anything with that many chemicals in it... So, when this bottle runs out (which at the rate he uses it will be soon) I'm going to simply refill the bottle and act like I bought more. He'll never know the difference!

Making your own household products is no where near as hard as it seems and like with making your own food, you get to control what goes in it. If you look up the commercial fabric refresher sprays (Febreze) you'll find some really scary things...  From basic skin and lung irritants, to more damaging concerns like endocrine/reproductive effects...

Plus, if you make your own you'll save a good amount of cash too. A bottle of Febreze can run somewhere around $5 on the shelf. If you have a coupon it could cost less, but I've seen it sell at up to $7 a bottle in some places. WOW! Making your own will literally cost you less than $2, and if you reuse a bottle you already have and already own a funnel, knock that down to less than $1!! No, I'm not kidding. Over a year, that's a HUGE savings!

So, there are two main methods here. The green method and the not so green method. You can tweak depending on what you like and want in your home, but that's pretty much it.

The green method requires the use of Essential Oils. While a bottle of Essential oils can seem to be expensive, they last forever because you use drops, not pours. The not-so-green method will use store bought Fabric softener, which will usually have some of the same health and environmental concerns of the Febreze, but will cost you less to use. Other ingredients will usually include water and either baking soda or vinegar.

Personally, I prefer to use the Baking Soda. But it CAN leave a residue behind if you don't have your BS to Water ratio right. Vinegar is best to use if your family has been battling illness as it will help to kill off germs and bacteria that may be causing your health issues. It DOES have a strong smell, but the odor will dissipate after it dries.

Okay, recipe time... This is very simple, simply pour all ingredients in to a spray bottle (these recipes are for a 24oz bottle), fill with water, tighten the lid and shake. Then use as you would Febreze.

TIP: If you're using Baking Soda, make sure to use WARM water and not cold so that it properly dissolves.

Green Method Recipe:
  • 1 cup Baking Soda (or Vinegar)
  • 10-15 drops of Essential Oil**
**Please note, if you have cats, essential oils can harm them. Do NOT spray their personal area and allow all areas where you use oils to dry completely before allowing the cat in contact with it. If you see a change in your cats behavior, try using less oil or a different kind.

Not-So-Green Method Recipe:
  • 2Tbls Baking Soda (or Vinegar)
  • 4Tbls Fabric Softener
  • 3c Water
There you have it, it couldn't be easier!

Homemade Cough Syrup Recipe 1

This recipe is awesome! If you're getting a could or cough, this is an easy to make remedy that has never failed. Honey is both soothing and an anti-bacterial. And ginger is an awesome ingredient for home remedies. It works to promote healthy digestion and prevent nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and numerous other issues. However, for this remedy it's the anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which we're choosing it for over the others. Although, it will also help your body fight whatever illness you're battling by boosting your immunity as it works to better your digestion by promoting a healthy flora and enzyme count through your pancreas, stomach and intestines.

What you will need:
  • 2in Fresh (or thawed from frozen) Ginger Root
  • 1tsp Raw Honey
  • 1/2 oz Hot Water
  • Small Bowl
  • "Zester" or Cheese Grater
  • Cheesecloth, Tea Ball or other Fine Strainer
  • Spoon or Small Wisc
What to do:

Lay your cheesecloth in side your bowl, or open your teaball/strainer and place it inside the bowl. Grate the ginger root. If you are using a "Zester" you will get a much finer grate, which is best. Push grated ginger through tea ball or squeeze cheesecloth to get as much juice as possible in the bowl.

Stir Honey and Hot Water in to ginger juice until honey is dissolved.

Allow to cool. Drink half first thing in the morning and the second half before bed.

You'll be cough-less by the following day!

**Coughs caused by pneumonia, bronchitis or other major lung infections will not be "cured." Call your doctor if your cough produces blood or sounds like this...

Cranberry Lime Vodka

I've heard of putting skittles or jolly ranchers in vodka, but this tops all of that! These are beautiful, and I can only imagine tasty. Once I am able to consume alcohol again (once I'm done nursing) I'm gonna have to try this! I LOVE cranberry lime!

ATTENTION PARENTS!!! Laundry Detergent Pod Dangers!

Please do not ignore this warning. I have posted on my facebook pages and in my blogs about using Organic or Home made versions of detergent quite a few times, I am a firm believer in knowing exactly what is in it and only using non-toxic ingredients. Unfortunately, the big companies haven't caught up and now, their newest "hot product" is actually putting the lives of children in grave danger - a danger many parents don't ever even consider when purchasing or organizing their laundry area!

If you have children, PLEASE watch this and then go make sure you don't have these (or similar products) anywhere that your kids can get their hands on them...

Home Made Ranch Dressing

My kids LOVE Ranch. But the store bought versions are SO full of crap! MSG, Preservatives, Artificial Flavors, GMOs... The list could go on and on... I have a few different recipes for Ranch, but this is one I LOVE! So good and really easy to do!

More Recources for Christo-Witches

As I combine my One Witch's Wonderland blog and this one, the posts being transferred are opening up quite a few conversations and I'm getting some requests for more information. Since transferring my post about Christian Witches I've had a few of these requests through Facebook. So I figure there are more people than not that are looking for more information.

Before I share my links and whatnot I will say this - Each person is going to identify with their beliefs and this subject differently. There are Christo-Pagans, Christo-Witches, Christo-Wiccans and Christo-Eclectics. All who may or may not fall in to the category of Christian Witch and each who may or may not share basic beliefs, practices and traditions. So, if you're looking for a solid "This is what they believe" you're going to have a rough time finding it. There ARE basic beliefs, but nothing is ever set in stone. If you're looking because you feel this could be your path, remember that if something doesn't resonate with you, you don't have to accept it. Your path is YOUR PATH and should fit you, don't ever try and force yourself to fit a path that you don't belong on!

This next link is for the "Women & Spirituality" documentary series. I recommend it to ALL Pagans, Goddess Followers/Seekers, and Christo-Pagans!  It is a series of 3 documentaries and WELL worth the cost! The series talks about the evolution of religion from Goddess worshiping societies to today and explores how the Church absorbed the Goddess Traditions while at the same time, claiming to ban them... It's really wonderful!  -  Check it out here:  Women & Spirituality

I hope these links help those of you who are truly searching for answers.

Blessed Be All!

Hand Sanitizer Dangers and Alternatives

I am, as usual, the odd man out when it comes to my children. Not that I mind though, as usual, I'm also the only one doing my homework and learning the dangers of things that most parents simply assume are "just fine for kids." At the start of each school year I send my children's teachers a note requesting that they attempt (I know mistakes get made and don't fault them for those times) to keep the Hand Sanitizers away from my children.

If at all possible children should be washing their hands with soap and water - of course I would prefer they didn't use the chemically filled soaps that the school has either - but that's something I simply can't change. But what I can do is at least ask that unless they are going to be eating and have no access to soap and water, that they simply skip the sanitizer with my kids. I have, so far, simply gotten return notes saying "Thanks for letting me know I'll do my best" and haven't had any issues - although frankly I'm not sure they are listening either.

All that said, people often wonder WHY I am so Anti-Sanitizer. I mean, it does seem like a simple thing - hands get dirty, kids have germs, sanitizer helps keep that dirty and germs at bay and keeps us healthy, right?!?  Well, yes, and no...

While sanitizer DOES kill germs and help to tackle some of the bacteria and dirty that our kids face each day, it also smothers their hands with potentially dangerous chemicals. It I had to choose between my children being exposed to the flu or chemicals which could potentially give them cancer, I'm gonna pick the flu every time!

Hand sanitizer is usually a staple in most schoolrooms these days - and just about everywhere else. I even know a few adults who use the stuff like it's going out of style. But the fact is, there are dangers, and most people simply don't know about them... There are, however, "chemical free" or "homemade" versions which are much better choices!

Below you'll find links for information on the dangers as well as how to make healthy versions! Enjoy!

The Sour Sop Fruit 10,000 Times Stronger Than Chemo-Therapy at Killing Cancer

"10000 times stronger killer of CANCER than Chemo".. do share it.. can save many lives, fill up hopes and build confidence in the patients...

The Sour Sop or the fruit from the graviola tree is a miraculous natural cancer cell killer 10,000 times stronger than Chemo.

Why are we not aware of this? Its because some big corporation want to make back their money spent on years of research by trying to make a synthetic version of it for sale.

So, since you know it now you can help a friend in need by letting him know or just drink some sour sop juice yourself as prevention from time to time. The taste is not bad after all. It’s completely natural and definitely has no side effects. If you have the space, plant one in your garden.
The other parts of the tree are also useful.

The next time you have a fruit juice, ask for a sour sop.

How many people died in vain while this billion-dollar drug maker concealed the secret of the miraculous Graviola tree?

This tree is low and is called graviola ! in Brazi l, guanabana in Spanish and has the uninspiring name “soursop” in English. The fruit is very large and the subacid sweet white pulp is eaten out of hand or, more commonly, used to make fruit drinks, sherbets and such.

The principal interest in this plant is because of its strong anti-cancer effects. Although it is effective for a number of medical conditions, it is its anti tumor effect that is of most interest. This plant is a proven cancer remedy for cancers of all types.

Besides being a cancer remedy, graviola is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for both bacterial and fungal infections, is effective against internal parasites and worms, lowers high blood pressure and is used for depression, stress and nervous disorders.

If there ever was a single example that makes it dramatically clear why the existence of Health Sciences Institute is so vital to Americans like you, it’s the incredible story behind the Graviola tree..

The truth is stunningly simple: Deep within the Amazon Rainforest grows a tree that could literally revolutionize what you, your doctor, and the rest of the world thinks about cancer treatment and chances of survival. The future has never looked more promising.

Research shows that with extracts from this miraculous tree it now may be possible to:
* Attack cancer safely and effectively with an all-natural therapy that does not cause extreme nausea, weight loss and hair loss
* Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections
* Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment
* Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life

The source of this information is just as stunning: It comes from one of America ‘s largest drug manufacturers, th! e fruit of over 20 laboratory tests conducted since the 1970's! What those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing… Extracts from the tree were shown to:

* Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer..
* The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug!
* What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectivelyhunts
down and kills only cancer cells.. It does not harm healthy cells!

The amazing anti-cancer properties of the Graviola tree have been extensively researched–so why haven’t you heard anything about it? If Graviola extract is

One of America ‘s biggest billion-dollar drug makers began a search for a cancer cure and their research centered on Graviola, a legendary healing tree from the Amazon Rainforest.

Various parts of the Graviola tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indi! ans in S outh America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis. Going on very little documented scientific evidence, the company poured money and resources into testing the tree’s anti-cancerous properties–and were shocked by the results. Graviola proved itself to be a cancer-killing dynamo.
But that’s where the Graviola story nearly ended.

The company had one huge problem with the Graviola tree–it’s completely natural, and so, under federal law, not patentable. There’s no way to make serious profits from it.

It turns out the drug company invested nearly seven years trying to synthesize two of the Graviola tree’s most powerful anti-cancer ingredients. If they could isolate and produce man-made clones of what makes the Graviola so potent, they’d be able to patent it and make their money back. Alas, they hit a brick wall. The original simply could not be replicated. There was no way the company could protect its profits–or even make back the millions it poured into research.

As the dream of huge profits evaporated, their testing on Graviola came to a screeching halt. Even worse, the company shelved the entire project and chose not to publish the findings of its research!

Luckily, however, there was one scientist from the Graviola research team whose conscience wouldn’t let him see such atrocity committed. Risking his career, he contacted a company that’s dedicated to harvesting medical plants from the Amazon Rainforest and blew the whistle.

Miracle unleashed
When researchers at the Health Sciences Institute were alerted to the news of Graviola,! they be gan tracking the research done on the cancer-killing tree. Evidence of the astounding effectiveness of Graviola–and its shocking cover-up–came in fast and furious….

  • The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976. The results showed that Graviola’s “leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.” Inexplicably, the results were published in an internal report and never released to the public…
  • Since 1976, Graviola has proven to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests, yet no double-blind clinical trials–the typical benchmark mainstream doctors and journals use to judge a treatment’s value–were ever initiated….
  • A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, following a recent study conducted at Catholic University of South Korea stated that one chemical in Graviola was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at “10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin…”
  • The most significant part of the Catholic University of South Korea report is that Graviola was shown to selectively target the cancer cells, leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer patients.
  • A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Graviola tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung cancers Seven years of silence broken–it’s finally here!"

Understanding Why Bleach is Bad...

The following information taken from Natural & Frugal: Raising 6 Kids Facebook Page - A page that is VERY worth a check out!
How To Understand Why Bleach Is Bad... Bleach is dangerous. It is as simple as that. Using household cleaners without it sometimes means using a little more "elbow grease" but in the long run it is worth it. There are also safe options that will kill germs, mold, mildew, and help fight stains (hydrogen peroxide is one of them). read article for info http://www.howtodothings.com/home-garden/how-to-understand-why-bleach-is-bad

Health issues. There are a number of different health issues that can be associated with bleach or household cleaners that contain bleach. These include respiratory problems, burned skin, and damage to the nervous system. In many cases, the use of bleach and cleaners with chlorine irritate problems that people have including allergies and asthma. These are caused as a direct result of the product itself and can be potentially serious.

•Chlorine easily mixes with ammonia and urine which contains ammonia. This can happen when mixing cleaners (on purpose or accident) and even while cleaning the toilet. The results is a toxic gas which can and sometimes does cause the lungs to stop functioning. Usually the fumes are noticeable, but sometimes people don't even notice that they are breathing in a potentially life threatening gas.

•Mixing chlorine with dish soap produces mustard gas, the same gas used to kill many people during World War I. Many people mix chlorine with dish soap while cleaning the kitchen (both on purpose and on accident).

•Chlorine also mixes with organic matter creating chloroform. This is a toxin and a known carcinogen. This happens in the house while cleaning the kitchen, the toilet, washing the laundry, and cleaning up food, blood, or other organic messes. This is dangerous to the inhabitants of the house. However, chlorine also mixes with organics in the environment building these toxins up all over the planet.
Toxins. While chlorine isn't toxic to the body, the chemical reactions that often happen with chlorine produce a number of very toxic elements. Most of these are known as carcinogens, build up in the body as it is exposed to them, and get into the food chain through the water. Doing your share may not seem like it will help, but every little bit can help make it safer for your family, starting at home.
The environment. If personal dangers, dangers to your family, and pets are not enough then there are the environmental dangers to consider as well. Toxins produced as a result of bleach use build up in the environment, cause dangers to the water supply, kill fish, harm animals, and get back to people through the food chain.

If that doesn't convince you, then maybe this will: stay-at-home wives have a 54% higher chance of getting cancer than women who work outside the home. It is believed that this is because they are exposed more to chemicals released by household cleaners, including dangerous items such as bleach. Now is the time to go green for safety, health, and a better future.

Snake Wreath

Seriously? Is there anything Martha Stewart can't do? Usually, when I think Martha Stewart I think about country love, cutesy and usually rather cheesy old woman home decor crafts... Definitely not edgy Halloween crafts!

This one, however, I absolutely love! And unlike the vast majority of her crafts that only she or craft experts can ever seem to accomplish correctly, this one is really easy to do!

Better yet, you can get just about everything you need to make it at your average dollar store! YEA!

Here's what you need:
  • Grapevine wreath
  • Plastic snakes, get a few packages
  • Floral wire
  • Wire cutters, if you don't already have a pair
  • Spray paint or black acrylic paint
Now, Martha says she got most of these things online through places like Save-on-crafts.com or OrientalTrading.com, but I would fair a guess that if your dollar store doesn't have what you need, WalMart will...

This is definitely going on my crafting "to-do" list before next Halloween!

Documentary - Vaccines, The Benefits, The Risks, The Choices

This documentary is just over 2:30 hours long, which seems like a HUGE amount of time in today's fast paced world. But, trust me, when it comes to making the proper choices for your child and yourself, it's well worth it! If you're like me, you'll watch it over and over again.

Unlike most documentaries this is a simple presentation by a doctor, not a story or a drama. This presentation is given by Dr. Tenpenny. A D.O. who has worked with the CDC and studied vaccination as well as the illnesses which we vaccinate against for well over 10 years.

In this documentary you are going to learn the difference between vaccination and immunization, how vaccines got the reputation they have, where the information taught about vaccination comes from, as well as information on many of the illnesses we vaccinate against and the vaccines we use for them - one by one.

The best part of this documentary is that the information is backed up by the CDC! Dr. Tenpenny does NOT site obscure or unheard of studies or sites. Instead she prefers to support her claims with quotes and information from key CDC and Merck people and often times straight from their published literature and information.  And by my view, if you don't trust the CDC and Merck, you shouldn't be vaccinating in the first place!

If you, like me, love this documentary and want to add it to your library or, better yet, give it to those you know who are expecting a child, it's available on Amazon and very much worth the cost!

Why Religious Tolerance...

Religious Tolerance continues to be a hot button topic with people weighing in heavily on both sides. However, to me, it's a very basic, very simple concept. Here in the US we literally live side by side with people from ALL cultures, faiths, beliefs systems and backgrounds, and if we plan to live a long happy life we will need to learn to function with and around them. While there is nothing wrong with holding tight to your own beliefs or practices, it's not a bad idea to learn to understand and tolerate those of others around you. How better to understand your neighbors than to understand where they are coming from?

Now, religious tolerance has it's opposition. I've seen many groups and people screaming about how different religious groups can not allow tolerance because it violates their own beliefs. In fact, I have never found a faith that teaches to hate those outside. Instead they mostly caution about fraternization and association. It is important to remember though that unless you plan to move to a Theocratic Country - like Iran - you are at least on some level, going to have to learn to associate with people from other faiths on a regular basis. You don't have to date them or even have them over for dinner, and no one is asking you to worship with them. But learning, at least the basics, of their faiths will allow you to understand why they do things or where they stand on certain issues which can help you to better navigate your relationship, however casual it may be, with them.

Many times we tend to just assume what someones faith is. And it's generally not something that comes up in conversation at the grocery counter. But the fact is, even the smallest towns have a plethora of beliefs and cultures all mish-mashed together. For example, I live in a very small town. Between our town and the next there are about 5000 people or so. It's a nice little community with about 35 churches and even a Christian church that was founded right here in town (and still has it's headquarters here). But the truth is that while the average person would tell you this is a "Christian town" or that "everyone around here is Christian" the simple truth is - it's not and they aren't... Yes, to be fair, most around here do fall in to one type or another of the Christian faith, but there are also Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans, Wiccans, Shintos, and yes, even Atheists here as well.

It always shocks people when they find out I'm not Christian. And I've heard the "but you seem like such a nice girl" about a million times in my life here. But the fact is, I'm not alone. What is also fact, and very unfortunate, is that while most people assume I'm Christian, when they DO learn the truth they don't ask questions or do anything to better educate themselves on what I do believe or how I live. They simply fall back on sermons they've been hearing all their lives about the "Evil Pagans." The fact that I was the same person they knew before they found out about my beliefs doesn't matter, and the relationship usually ends with them slowly backing away and refusing to speak with me again. Generally, I just say, "Oh, well, their loss." But it has in fact cost me business and has caused quite a bit of drama in the past.

I've also heard some really crazy ideas and stories about the Hindu family that runs the local 7/11. And about the Shinto family that owns the Chinese place. And don't get me started about the rumors surrounding the Muslims...  I do my best to ignore or even correct these stories where I can, but the fact is, I can't do it alone and most people don't know they aren't truthful stories and they don't want to know any differently either.  Of course not everyone is like this, but most fall in to one of two categories - those who realize there are other people who believe differently and who think those outside their faith are wrong, or those who refuse to admit that other faiths even exist around here. And while there ARE those who understand and accept without question, they are few and far between.

I wish I could say I think my town is odd, but I don't believe that way at all. Thanks to the internet I have made friends all over the US and all over the world. And I've heard similar stories of rejection and unwillingness to accept other paths from all corners of the world. It's not something that's isolated to my town, or even to my country.

Thankfully, for the most part, people just don't bring it up though. They may believe they are better than you or that there is something wrong with you, but most of the time, they don't say it to your face. I suppose, this is a blessing in some ways. While it would be great for people to have the chance to counter some of those misconceptions and myths about other faiths, it also tends to help keep the peace on a local and global level. Unfortunately, people tend not to keep their mouths quite so shut when they are with their friends or family... This, like I said above, can cost people friends and money. And THIS is why it's so important to stress religious tolerance!

For myself, I don't EVER expect to be living in a society where I am a part of the majority. Nor do I expect people to become Pagan or practice Witchcraft simply because that's what and who I am. But I would like people to learn the basics. I would like people to understand that "NO, I'm not going to kill your cat." And "Yes, I do have morals." And "No, witches don't have orgies" - or at least not any more than Non-Witches do...  I don't EVER expect people to change their own faiths or practices. But a basic understanding of who I am and what I believe doesn't just benefit ME, it also benefits society as a whole. How? Well, because I'm not the only Pagan on the planet, y'all! And chances are, you're going to live next to, be in a meeting with, wait on, patronize or even preach to another one quite soon after I walk away!

Learning the basics of other faiths and accepting that their beliefs are just as real to them as yours are to you and learning to tolerate them and the differences between you is not just a benefit for them, but for you as well. It allows you to be a better shop owner, PTA member, Library Volunteer, waitress, neighbor or even a better family member! It means that you have the ability to understand WHY that "Muslim girl" covers her hair or WHY your Jewish co-worker doesn't work after dark on Fridays... It will help you understand why you see your Pagan neighbor out in the back yard dancing in the moonlight or why the Taoist Chinese girl from down the street is getting married in red and not white. ALL of which helps you by allowing you to better relate to their needs and by allowing them to better relate to yours.

Any time the question of WHY religious tolerance is important comes up I usually ask people one thing - Would YOU want to live in a society where no one understood your beliefs or accepted that they were valid? I have NEVER had anyone say Yes! And really, that's the point. YOU wouldn't want to live in a society where everyone around you honestly didn't and absolutely refused to understand you, so why would you want others to?

Religious tolerance is NOT about changing YOUR beliefs! I can't say that enough. NO ONE is asking you to change what YOU believe! We're simply asking you to take the time to understand that our beliefs could be different, but they deserve the same respect as yours. So take the time, and the next time you meet someone who thinks or believes differently, ASK them something and be open enough to learn what they are telling you. Accept that they aren't going to change how they believe and that they are the same people they were before you found out they weren't like you. Just like you, they want to be understood! They want to be accepted! And they don't want to have to hide who they are or lie just to be treated with the respect and tolerance that you would want for yourself!

10 Reasons Why Parents Choose NOT to Vaccinate

I'm often asked why parents would choose not to vaccinate their children. Usually, I'm asked this by parents or teachers who have never educated themselves on vaccines. The fact is, that while I can give you my reasons - and frankly take three days to give you that - I can't answer for every parent. Each parent, I'm sure, will have points and reasons which are more important or at least higher on the list than others. This article is only 10 of those reasons, but from what I have heard from other parents, these seem to be the big ones. So, here they are - 10 Reasons Why Parent's Choose Not To Vaccinate...

Can you be Christian AND a Witch?

**Article Disclaimer: I am NOT a Christo-Witch or any version there of. I am an Eclectic Pagan and do pull some spiritual beliefs from this history and myths surrounding Christianity. Because of this, this article is being written with some help from a Christo-Witch friend of mine and is not meant to be taken as black and white fact or fiction about these beliefs, it is simply a way to get the information out there for YOU to think about.

Can you really be a Christian Witch? Is there really a such possibility?

Simply put: YES. However, as with subjects such as this there are rarely ever Simple answers. Many people see the combination of Christianity and Witchcraft as a complete oxymoron. Yet there are thousands of Christo-Witches, Christo-Eclectics and Christo-Pagans out there... All in all it depends on how one views the definitions of terms such as Witch, Christian and Pagan... And as it stands, Religion is a man-made institution, so it seems appropriate that each person gets to define "religion" in the way that most closely fits them.

Buddah said:
“In theory there is but one religion, in practice, there are as many religions as there are people.”

While many people aren't big on labels, others see them as a necessity, a security of sorts... For those who use terms like Christian Witch, the label is simply a way to clarify a concept within their own mind rather than something which needs to be agreed upon at large. But what does that mean? Well, in general it means that if you ask 12 different Christian Witches what that label means, you're going to get 13 different answers - AT LEAST!

For those who are new to the world of Christo-Paganism, or those outside the belief system it may seem like the two don't mix. Many times you'll hear people: "You can't be Christian AND Pagan at the same time." And in many ways they are correct, however nothing is ever black and white! Generally the issue is how those people view the definitions of terms like Christian and Pagan. When people hear the term Christian they tend to think "fundamental," King James Bible believing, Church Going Christian. These same people tend to define Pagan as "Non-Christian."  And it does make sense for the majority that you can't be BOTH Christian and Non-Christian at the same time. However, NEITHER of these definitions are incorrect, however, both are very conservative, black & white answers, in a world full of liberals and shades of gray.

It's because of this that confusion tends to come about. It's easy to understand that you can't be a fundamental, KJV Bible devoted Christian AND a Witch or Pagan... The confusion between the two would be enough to drive anyone insane! So it's no wonder that outsiders don't understand and tend to view Christo-Witches and Christo-Pagans as a bit neurotic and indecisive...  If those were the only definitions of Christian and Pagan, I would have to agree with these opinions... Thankfully, for the Thousands of Christo-Eclectics, Christo-Witches and Christo-Pagans these are NOT the only definitions.

While I can NOT give you a fully covered definition of terms such as Christo-Pagan, Christo-Witch & Christo-Eclectic, what I can do is give you a better definition of the major terms involved. Now, why can't I just tell you what these paths believe? Well, as I covered earlier, there are just to many beliefs summed up by these paths to possibly give you an understandable and complete definition or description.

Now, before I go in to more liberal and seemingly accurate (for the purposes of this article) meanings of the terms, I am going to cover the generally "understood" meanings FIRST, simply so it's easier to see the contrast.

Christian:  When heard by most non-Christians and Christians alike they think of the "fundie Christian" with conservative views and beliefs backed up by their great belief that the King James Version Bible is without question the written word of God... Because, although it's unfortunate, these are the Christians we hear from most through media exposure and the like.

Witch:  Among non-Witches, who have a very limited, or no understanding of Witches beyond what they have heard in passing or been taught by their religious order, there are two general definitions:
1.) Devil-worshipper, evil
2.) Nature Loving, Tree Hugging, Hippie Wiccan

Witchcraft, in and of itself is NOT a religion. While there are many religions which welcome the practice of witchcraft, it is in fact a PRACTICE and not a belief.  You can be a witch and be ANY religion. Just like you can practice Yoga and be any religion. Not all Yogis are Hindu.

Now, after covering the overly accepted meanings, I'm laying out my own definitions here, however if you are considering this spiritual path...you will have to lay out your definitions too. The only way you can combine any two paths, or incorporate a seemingly "controversial" practice into your spiritual life is if you get your definitions straight first. Because as I have stated, there is no straight forward teaching for these paths...

My definitions:

Christian: To me, being a Christian means believing in the following things:

* A belief in One God - Which can include a belief in a Trinity (Father, Son & Holy Spirit)
* Acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
* Salvation by Grace and Faith in Christ.
* A personal relationship with God.
* The bible as an inspired source for spiritual wisdom.

Witch: To me, being a witch means the following things:

* Having a connection to nature and natural energies.
* Respecting all life and taking care of the earth and helping people.
* Someone who believes in and uses ritual and magick to bring about needed change.

In the end the only "problem" is the concept of "magick." It seems at face value that the bible prohibits magickal practice and or witchcraft. BUT, if one looks closely with an open mind it's easy to see that this is in actuality far from the case.

The in depth study of what the bible says or doesn't say on this matter is going to have to wait for a second article... It just simply does not fit within the scope of this initial article.

However, common sense would tell you that what is prohibited in the bible is hurting others or manipulating others, or accessing unnatural or "otherworldly" energies. The Christian God, the God of the New Testament, is not supposed to be a manipulator, nor is he supposed to interfere with the free will of his followers. IF, one chooses to follow him, then this is the example that should be followed.
The other common argument against magick is that you aren't supposed to use it if you are a Christian because you are supposed to rely fully on God. And while this is a commonly accepted belief among Christians and Christo-Pagans alike... there is also some basic common sense that needs to be considered here. IF you believe that all things in nature are created by God, and IF you believe magick to be natural (which it is) then it stands to reason that it was put here by God for his followers to use. Just as God isn't going to pay your bills if you don't go to work, it stands to reason that he isn't going to take care of the little hiccups in your life unless you take action to change them first! SO, we were given a number of options when things come up...  1.) Take non-magickal action - which should always be done prior to magickal options. 2.) Magickal actions - use the energies Given By God, to our advantage and make a change needed OR 3.) Pray and hope God has the will to get involved, even if we aren't willing to do things for ourselves.

IF this is a path which you are interested in following, the important part is that it's the right path for YOU, and not what others do or don't think about your beliefs or the beliefs of others on similar paths. As with all spiritual paths, your connection to self and spirit are the most important aspects...

Winter Emergency Kit

This is awesome! If you have kids, and live in an area where winter can get rough, it's worth thinking about! Unfortunately, we can't plan emergencies so that we know we'll be ready, so it's best to simply be ready in the case that it happens when we aren't planning for it.

Homemade lotion

I love this recipe. However, if you're not a Lavender fan, you can replace the Lavender with any other Essential Oil that you prefer.

It's not apples you smell!

When I was younger, it seems like a life time ago, I always coated myself in fragrance sprays. A few years ago, I started to learn about the dangers of common cosmetics and fragrance sprays and haven't worn them since! There are times I miss it, I LOVED my Ed Hardy Perfume! But since I have quit using these products - as well as other chemically created personal products - I have noticed a HUGE change in my health! Definitely the right choice!

Witches and Your Basic Everyday Stage Magician...

One question I tend to get a good bit is "Are Witches really real?" And my simple answer is YES, We are! As a practicing witch for some time, I can say without doubt that yes, witches are really real. But really, what is a witch? What makes one person a witch and another person just a stage magician?

Well, first off, a stage magician requires nothing besides some slight of hand tricks that anyone can master through some basic "magic" books. There isn't any real magic involved...  Real witches work with natural energies to change the world around them

So, here's the thing...  Magick, what is it? Because when it all boils down to it, that's the big difference isn't it? Well, Magick is the art of using energy to alter the world around us. For witches this is done by using your energy and focusing it on your goals...  All things in this world have energy - Animal, Plant or Mineral - all energy! So, by focusing our energy we are able to affect the energy of other things in our world...  And thus, create change. That, ladies & gentlemen, is real magick! It's not illusion...  It's change in it's most basic form.  All in all, it's that simple. Witches use nature and the natural energies therein to create the change they seek...

So, is Magick dangerous? No, magick of and in itself, is far from dangerous. However, like all other forms of energy when misused, it CAN be dangerous. Electricity is not only a great benefit to our world today, but to our every day lives, but when channeled for the wrong proposes can be deadly. Magick, like every other action in our lives has consequences, and although I'll get in to the subjects of Karma, Three Fold Law and The Law of Attraction later, the basic idea is when magick is used for the wrong reasons, you will get the "wrong" results in the end... So always make sure you are using your energy for the good of all involved and make sure to "Harm None!"
